Wharton Community Photo


By default, the picture displayed in Wharton Community comes from the PennCard database.  

Uploading a Personal Photo 

You may also choose to upload your own photo by following these steps:

  1. Log in to Spikehttp://spike.wharton.upenn.edu
  2. Click on the ‘Community’ tab
  3. Click on “My Profile”
  4. Click on the pencil icon at the upper right corner of the profile.
  5. At the bottom of the form, there is an option to upload a new photo.  Browse to a photo that fits the criteria listed.
  6. Save Changes.

Changing Your University Photo

To change your PennCard photo, you will need to go to the PennCard Center (2nd Floor Bookstore, 36th and Walnut) and have a new PennCard created.  Please be aware there is a fee involved in having a new PennCard photo created.

To change a personal photo, follow the steps above to load your new photo.

Hiding Your Photo on Wharton Community

To hide your photo in Community:

  1. Log in to Spikehttp://spike.wharton.upenn.edu
  2. Click on the ‘Community’ tab
  3. Click on “My Profile”
  4. Click on the pencil icon in the upper right corner.
  5. Scroll down to the Photos section, and choose to hide (or show) your photo.

  6. Click the ‘Save Changes’ button.


Error: "No Photo Available"

The "No Photo Available” error means either that the student you are looking up has chosen not to display his/her photo or hasn't registered for the Wharton Community yet. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to:

Error: “Invalid Photo Request”

Wharton Community allows you to upload a separate photo, but many other applications use the PennCard database as their primary source for student photos.  If you are getting the error “Invalid Photo Request”, it means one of several things:

  1. New students may not yet have submitted a PennCard Photo. To upload your photo to the PennCard system, go to https://www.campusexpress.upenn.edu/ and log in. Follow the prompts to upload your photo.
  2. There is a problem, either with the Photo that was submitted or with the Penn Card system. 
  • If you can see the photo in SPIKE's Community, but not in other applications, contact the PennCard center at https://www.campusexpress.upenn.edu/help-support.jsp
  • If you can't see the photo in SPIKE's Community, please contact the Student Support Office with more information.
